A rumour has spread that a lake near to ours has been reported to the EA because it has a nasty fish disease.
We are awaiting confirmation.
Until further notice NO NETS of any kind will be allowed at Horseshoe Lake!
There are clean landing nets available at the lake - DO NOT USE YOURS!!!
If you do use your net there is a good chance you will be spreading the disease - so please do notuse your own nets!
Thank you
Here at Morecambe & District Junior Anglers we teach young people how to enjoy angling and how to look after the environment.
We have our own lake, HorseshoeLake at DockerPark Farm near Carnforth, which is strictly for members and their guests only!
We teach the country code, how identify and look after different species of fish. We have numerous bird and bat boxes at our lake and soon we will have lots of hedgehog houses. We have a variety of native trees, wild flowers and fruits which all help to encourage wildlife to make a home and thrive at our lake.
MAD strongly encourage families to visit our lake, we have made various provision including hot drinks facilities, a toilet and a picnic area.
MAD are a non-profit making voluntary group based in the North Lancashire/ South Lakes area and receive no government funding. We rely totally on donations to keep operating. If you would like to help us by becoming a volunteer or would like to make a donation please email the club at the above email address.
We have rescued various animals since we started the club. We have taken in a rehoused 2 ducks, 1 chicken and a hedgehog. We place food at the lake for our hedgehogs, we have put various bird and bat boxes on trees to encourage them to make a home there, we have log piles and wildflowers to encourage insects.
The wood has come for the platforms.
We will be making a start on them soon if anybody wants to help us.
Please remember that if you say you will help at a working party you MUST help, if you sit and fish for several hours and help for 5 minutes, it will not count!
Can anybody do a working party?

About Us
The club started in 2004 by Jo Brown, she teaches most of the lessons and has done pretty much all of the work, we have had several grants and we have our own lake stocked with roach, carp, bream, rudd and chub.
A notice was sent via email to most members about the holiday.
MAD are applying for a grant to go on the holiday BUT information is needed to fill in the forms.
We dont have much time to get the grant forms in, so please be quick in replying.
Please get them filled in and returned so the grant application can go ahead.
A date has been set for the 2008 MAD Holiday.
We will be going to a lake near London from the 11th of August to the 15th of August.
Accommodation, washing & cooking facilities are provided.
Members are invited, but adults are needed for supervision.
There may yet be a rule that say "If you dont fundraise, you dont go" - but that will be discussed at a committee meeting.
So far people going are Jo, Liam, Pete, Sam, James, Tom D & family, Michael & family, Robbie & family, Matt. (providing they do enough fundraising!)
Is your name down?
