MAD wish to thank Jim at Borwick, Keith at Cleveley Bridge, Howard & Steven at Morecambe Angling Centre, Farmer Ford at Docker Park Farm and all our sponsors for making 2008 possible.
Dates of lessons
The lessons are split into 2 groups. Beginners start at 10am and finish at 1pm, advanced start at 2pm and finish at 5pm. Members can fish before and after lessons if they wish (as along as it is at Horseshoe Lake).
Lesson Dates: 5th April, 19th April, 26th April, 10th May (beginners only), 17th May ALL AT HORSESHOE LAKE. 13th September at the Canal Turn, Carnforth. 4 further lessons to be arranged at short notice and various venues.
Carp overnighters to be arranged.
Please bring to ALL lessons enough bait, barbless hooks and your disgorger, waterproofs and something to sit on. If you need to borrow tackle you are asked to let the secretary know and your parents are asked to collect the tackle on or before the Thursday before the date. Tackle will no longer be brought to lessons or matches due to the space needed to transport the tackle.
In dry weather you could be able to drive your car to Horseshoe Lake, however you do so at your own risk. If you get the car stuck in the field the farmer may charge a fee to tow your vehicle free.
Please try to use natural baits, such as maggots, casters, worms, pinkies and bread. Please try to avoid sweet corn, absolutely NO boilies and NO tins!!
If anybody has any suggestions about fundraising matches for 2008 please let us know!
Does anybody have any suggestions for dates for night fishing??
The next lesson on the 10th of May - will ALL members please turn up. We know it says beginners only BUT we want to teach you how to use the net dips correctly.
MAD have a 'leave no trace' policy which means there should be no litter, line, hooks or any other items discarded at our lake.
When you go fishing please check around your peg and make sure there is nothing that should not be there. If any litter of any sort is found in your peg you will be held responsible even if it is not yours!
If you see anybody leaving litter you should find out who they are and report them immediately to a member of the committee.
Sadly after our first lesson Dave found some discarded line. He handed it into Jo and said who the suspects were. Leaving litter, especially line & hooks is against the rules. Anybody found leaving litter could face a disaplinary hearing in front of the committee and may be asked to leave the club!
Some Rules
All the rules are in the year book and MUST be read, understood and obeyed.
The basic rules are: No running or shouting, No litter or ANY kind, No hook larger than a 16 is to be used at Horseshoe Lake, Barbless hooks only, A disgorger is needed at all times, Please do not fish boilies, nuts or other large carp bait as we do not have any large carp in the lake.
